Peeps and thoughts regarding whatever I’m working on now.

JOSEPHINE: It’s a bit dark, but is turning into an amazing love story.

Opening paragraphs. Curious what you feel.

At the place where the matted carpet ended and worn kitchen linoleum began, Corrine knelt behind her seven-year-old daughter and whispered into her ear, “If you don’t do this, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.” She wrapped her arms gently around her daughter’s frame, placing the .22 into her tiny hands. Guiding her daughter’s index finger carefully onto the trigger, she steadied the child’s trembling arms, lifted them slowly, and murmured, “I’m not going to let you end up like me.”

She rested her warm cheek against the coolness of her daughter’s. “Now, you got two options,” she continued, this time so that the man she’d allowed to sleep in her bed for the past two months could hear, “If you aim for his chest or his face, it’s over. He’ll die, and we’ll bury him in the ground someplace the coyotes won’t find, and then we’ll go on in life like nothing ever happened.” She watched the eyes of the man before them grow afraid, and it made her happy.
